7:00 pm - Refreshments and Conversations 7:30 pm - Program: Missing Succulents of the Red Center by Kenneth Bader
In 2015, the author visited central Australia and discovered stunning scenery and a diverse desert flora that was largely devoid succulents. In this presentation he will explore the geological and evolutionary history of the lost continent to try and discover how Australia's plants have adapted to its recent arid landscapes.
Kenneth Bader is a paleontologist and the manager of the Osteological Preparation lab at UT Austin. In his free time he travels the world to search for native animals and plants, with a particular interest in birds, reptiles, cycads, and succulents.
